Windows 7 as a remedy of Vista failure?

News are there about the launch of new operating system by Microsoft. Which is named on the version of MS on going Windows operating system. Its Windows 7, which is expected to release in early 2009. But before talking about more about Windows 7 I want to take attention of you people about what the current conditions of Windows Vista in the market.
Microsoft caused Vista to commit suicide because they left fearing from Linux. They claim that they build the system very secure and artistically managed to be compromised. They developed Vista to be overly secure and *very* difficult to crack and that artificially welded the price firmly to the product. If you wanted Vista you had to pay for it. Sure there were cracks but they were complicated and often beyond “average” users. Microsoft was in illusion about this formula: XP user base * Vista price = Huge profit. But people want to use MS operating system but in a pirated format, rather they pay $ to MS.
I can think that Windows XP is the widely cracked software available on the planet. It is very easy for any normal user to have pirated software to be download from Internet or buy from some underground software shop. It is also very easy for any user to remove Windows Genine Advantage nag in tray. So by all this MS pockets didnt get any buck. So they make ready Vista with a lot of marketting campaigns talks on confrences, but whats the result of all this is they need to consider new brand name for their product. I dont know how much they are expecting from Windows 7. But I think it is very hard for Microsoft to put XP user base into its control again.

The unfamousness of Vista put notebook companies to think to ship Windows XP again in their notebooks. Lenovo is also providing downgrading from Vista to Xp. And also I found Dell has the similar deal about providing XP in their notebooks.
Well people are not moving to Linux desktop OS yet, they sure will not move to Vista either. So can Mirosoft consider that “Lol! Vista was a joke. Here is our new OS which we were developing in real”? And they were developing Windows 7 for its desktop user base, which is currently relying on Windows XP.
And On FOSS fronts they have come up with BadVista campaign.
Now its your choice to evaluate. Feel free to comment.

Sun switches search alliances from Google to Microsoft

Which came first — Google dropping StarOffice from its Google Pack or Sun agreeing to distribute Microsoft’s Live-Search-powered MSN toolbar with the Java runtime?
We’ll probably never know (at least until Sun CEO Jonathan Schwartz blogs about it). But the new deal, announced on November 10, between Sun and Microsoft is ironic, if nothing else, given the twisted history between the two over Java.
(In 1997, Sun sued Microsoft, for alleged misuse of Sun’s Java technology. Microsoft paid $20 million to Sun as a settlement. In 2002, Sun filed a civil antitrust suit against Microsoft over Java again. Microsoft ended up paying Sun $700-million-plus in 2004 to settle “all outstanding antitrust issues.”)
In 2005, Sun struck a deal with Google to bundle the Google toolbar with Java. That deal is replaced by the new agreement with Microsoft — although in the U.S. only and only for Internet Explorer users, as the Seattle Post-Intelligencer notes. The Google toolbar will still be bundled with Java overseas.
Microsoft has been seeking partners to preload its Live Search and other Windows Live properties on new PCs and/or as part of their software offerings.
Microsoft is slated to launch the final “Wave 3″ release of its Live services on November 12, company officials said recently. Microsoft has been beta testing its Wave 3 release of its Live Essentials suite for the past couple of months.
The new Live Essentials suite, unified via a common installer, includes updated versions of Windows Live Messenger instant-messaging; Windows Live Mail (with a new and improved Live Calendar); Windows Live Writer blog-posting tool; Windows Live Movie Maker; Windows Live Photo Gallery, the Family Safety parental control tools and the Outlook Connector.

Orkut goes into Mobile

Orkut which was of its time a very famous social networking site launched by Google Inc. recently launched its mobile version where from mobile you can use orkut. Though there is lack in functionality as the core purpose of the mobile functionality is the ability to review / reply to your scraps … well to be frank Google people we have moved forward with scraps now we use twitter and every single day i am getting more addicted to twitter reason being its adoptability with diffrent apps, you can twitt from web / mobile / IM which is quite fun & easy.

Google’s Launched its New Browser Chrome out now

In a surprise move Google just launched there new browser Chrome. The word meaning “photographic transparency”. Google Chrome is an open source browser which is quite interesting and looks & feels allot like Apple’s Safar. They have done a nice job and i think i might be the one who would betray firefox and switch to Google chrome reason being they build a very simple yet elegant browser which is fast does not take much of the computer resources and of course is fitted with some of the great and very important features required in browsers for this era.

On the surface, we designed a browser window that is streamlined and simple. To most people, it isn’t the browser that matters. It’s only a tool to run the important stuff - the pages, sites and applications that make up the web. Like the classic Google homepage, Google Chrome is clean and fast. It gets out of your way and gets you where you want to go.

So people what are you waiting for jump in and try out Google Chrome, its download link is on and you can simply download Google Crome from here. It will import all your web settings, history , passwords so no need to give it a second thought.

8 things that i loved about Google’s Chrome
  1. Its supper fast yes even faster then Mozilla, actually it looks & feels allot like Apple safari even its rendering engine is webKit which is used by Safari.
  2. The default page is not Google.com or MSN.com or mozilla.com like most browsers who promote there crab for the sake of it, rather its a usefull page that shows thumbnails of your most recent and most visited websites nice…
  3. It helps you create application shortcuts which is one kool feature my most fav i.e. you can make shortcut of any website on your desktop for e.g. go to gmail create application shortcut using chrome on your quick launch or desktop and when you open that shortcut gmail will open showing your inbox… really nice check it out how to do it
  4. Stealth mode browsing, dont want to keep history or any record of the websites you visit then browse in incognito Mode, no records no history all stealth.
  5. Web history & Bookmark manager suck in most browser either they are jumbled up in a side bar or a pop up loved they way Google presents it simply nice.
  6. Try downloading from Chrome or visit the Download history page rest you will know why you love it.
  7. All my websites works perfectly in Google Chrome, if you website works fine in Safari it will work fine in Chrome, also they support validation and w3c which they mentioned in FAQ if your website is not working fine.
  8. Chrome website inspector study the code & markup really kool

Go4B - Worldcall Cable Internet reduces internet Tariff

Finally Go4B (World Call cable internet) opens its eyes looks around and decide to reduce the internet Tariff to a very compatitve package plans so here is what Go4b - (Worldcall Broadband) is offering:

Go4B (Woldcall Cable Internet) New Internet Tariff 2008

  • 1MB - Unlimited - Rs.25 00
  • 512kbps - Unlimited - Rs.1200
  • 256kbps - Unlimited - Rs.1000
  • 128kbps - Unlimited - Rs.600/

I have used Wateen, WOL DSL & PTCL if i compare to the service provided by Go4b - (Worldcall Broadband) with all the others then i would simply vote for Go4b - (Worldcall Broadband) and question will be why so here is a comparative analysis that might help you before you sign up for an internet connection.

DSL interent connection:

In a DSL connection most of your connection speed, browsing experience, downloads is dependent on three factors.

  1. Your Phone Line from computer to the PTLC Poll
  2. PTCL Telephone Connection
  3. Your ISP.

If your Telephone line gets a little noisy or the connection on the poll becomes a little loose you will have a horrible internet experience in case of DSL, there would tremendous disconnection, your download speed & your browsing speed will suffer horribly. The second factor for DSL is PTCL if a fault rises in a PTCL line at the back end you are doomed and you will be calling your ISP / PTCL / Your Line man and they all will be blaming each other this happened with me when i was using WOL DSL (now know as linkDotNet). And the third element & the last is your ISP which itself had many problems with DSL setup. Apart from that many people have reported the horrible customer service & very slow process for deployment of DSL by all providers .

Wateen WiMax

So far Wateen WiMax internet connection is not that bad, although i never expected it to be fast & reliable but the fact is Wateen have improved there service. We had a 512k line at our office and roughly i get a 64k download speed as the connection is shared between 13 people before it gets to us and is further shared at office where there are about 15 computers. Though the negative point in Wateen WiMax is that it is dependent on weather, if its raining or there are storm outside you will be getting tons & tons of disconnection. If you log a complain there customer support turns up quickly and usually updates the software in the wireless wimax modem. The negative point is you have to spend approximately 18000 for wireless modem they provide which of course they charge in installments of Rs 1300 which seems quite less but in the end you do pay 18000 for a wireless wimax modem which can only be used with wateen. My rule i will not spend any money on such equipment if they give it for free like DSL or go4B then i might get Wateen.

Go4b Broadband Cable Internet

Now Go4b is a cable internet provider means you are connected via a cable directly to the ISP. There is no center body like PTCL or Weather involved which can disrupt your internet connection. You have unlimited bandwidth unlike Wateen though DSL is also now unlimited. Apart from that i have been using go4B internet for last 4 months and i dont know the number of there customer support. There has been no problem at all (Mashallah) . I get a download speed of upto 42k when i was using 256k connection and now the have updated it to 512k and i expect a 60 - 80k download speed which i haven’t tested yet.
